I am wondering if this is normal. My child lives in the week with father and stays at weekends with me. We have equal parental responsibilities. I just found out that from January this year till she has been late for 31 times to school. I asked the school for the full register and they gave me all the months apart from June. I have been on their case and contacted everyone from veilig thuis to leeeplichtambtnaar.
School apologized and said they did not handle the situation well and that from September they will keep accurate records. I received the record for September and there is only one reported lateness but I know there are more and even the director acknowledged that verbally. Is this normal for schools to withhold accurate information? To make it worse, school and my ex partner’s house are on the same road.
The only person that has heard me properly and seen the issue for what it is is the school’s vetrouwenperson and has offers to sit with me if I decide to have a meeting with the school. School is in Friesland.
My question: is 31 days late arrival to school considered normal? That is between 5th January 2026- August 27th 2026. Minus 6weeks school holiday of course.
But the school also kept June out of the record and I know that my child was late. So likely it was more.
